Gate buttons are on a -1 timer (permanent sticky gates). Portals have a 0 cooldown. In-base bombs use buttons so that bombing straight into flag is only available with teamwork.

For testing I recommend the following: hit one gate button, switch teams and hit the other, then play with the portals. Note there are gate indicators by the portals to help you know when a boost is safe.
